It’s important when you’re looking to get into network marketing to be very particular about the company you choose. I chose my company for several different reasons. In making that choice, I did my homework to make sure it aligned with my requirement. I had learned from my first experience in network marketing some very key things that are important to consider before joining.
One of the most important things I learned was to make sure to research the company before you join. You want to ask a lot of questions and make sure it’s the right fit for you.
Here are a few of the areas that I would consider:
- Executive team
It’s crucial to have a team that has experience, vision, a roadmap, financial stability and a long-term plan.
It’s a strong indicator if the field leadership has been with the company for a long time. It shows they believe in what the company is doing and have faith. When the leadership is constantly moving that’s not normally a very good sign.
This is probably one of the most important things. Network marketing is not like anything else you would have ever done. It’s so crucial to have a training program and system in place to follow. You also want a regular schedule of live events that the company puts on. They should be with seasoned trainers not just random people. This can also create a very strong culture within the company and will help you be very successful in your business. Training is absolutely a must if you want a big business.
- Comp plan
It’s important you understand the comp plan and it’s easily explained. My first company I never understood the comp plan and every time I turned around it changed and not for the good. It should be clear and easily understood. Now don’t get me wrong you’ll need to read it a few times because it will be very new to you. You just want to make sure you know how you get paid and what you must do. Be very careful that’s it’s not front loaded which means a lot of money paid out at the beginning because this is normally not good for the longevity of a company. That’s one of the many reasons my first company I was with went bankrupt.
The next thing you need to think about is the product or service that you were going to represent. When I joined my first network marketing company I love the product for myself but I was not very passionate about selling it to others. You need to make sure that you’re passionate and you fall heartedly Believe in your product or service. It needs to be a product or service that you use your self and that you can talk to others about. If you’re passionate about it others will see that.
Lastly you need to find a company and stick with it. One of the biggest mistakes I see is people moving from company to company thinking they will do better. If you have a solid company that you believe in it will work. I think people are just looking for the easy way out and don’t want to put the time or energy that it takes to build a network marketing business. Building this business will be hard work but so worth it.
